What can I expect at an appointment?

Dr Robert Lefever usually sees patients in his South Kensington office but he can also offer to see them in their own homes where necessary.

The first thing Dr Robert Lefever does is to understand the problem. Talk to the people involved – at length.

He’ll then be able to tell whether he believes he can help. And how.

Dr Robert Lefever works on one to one. In that way he can guarantee that the patient is getting his utter commitment. His personal care at all times. The concern of an expert, not just a carer or an employee.

What happens if I am a new patient?

Usually Dr Robert Lefever sees people in terrible despair and crisis. But where there seems nothing but confusion and destruction to other people Dr Robert Lefever has the long experience to see patterns and likely outcomes.

‘I Think I’m an Addict!

If you think you are, then you need to speak to me.

I’ll be able to question you and diagnose where I think you are.

If you’re an addict I’ll be able to decide quickly how to treat you.

If you’ve come to me you’re already well on the way to recovery. You’ve made that vital first step and I shall be with you for every step of your journey from then on.

Long term change comes from long term commitment.

So, don’t despair. You can recover.

But don’t think you can beat it by geographically going somewhere else…your addiction is within you, not in the outside world.

Don’t despair about the detoxification process either. It’s frequently simpler and quicker than you think. And I will be with you for the medical management, making certain that you get the very best treatment.

Come and see me. Tell me your story. If you need to, let’s get this thing beaten.’

Do you examine young people?

What happens if I need a prescription?

I don’t use anti-depressants or prescribe.  If you have already been taking drugs prescribed by your doctor, then thats between you and your doctor..

Do you have parking facilities?

What happens if I am a new patient?

I’ve seen thousands of desperately worried people over the years.

People who are at their wits’ end. Confused and exhausted by the hideously destructive behaviour of someone they care about.

Come and tell me about it as soon as possible. An acute crisis becomes a chronic crisis if it’s mismanaged and the window of opportunity for intervention is often small.

It’s vital to keep the pressure on while there’s a chance of convincing the patient that there’s a need for professional help.

Don’t despair. What seems an impossibly complicated situation to you is likely to be a familiar  a pattern of behaviour to me – and one that I will know exactly how to interpret.

Don’t despair if the promises you’ve heard have all been broken. They always are.

Take yourself out of the problem. Let me take over. I’m a professional and I know how to intervene. Difficult decisions have to be made and it’s far better for me to deal with them than someone with an emotional tie to the addict.

Don’t give up. I can fix things.
